Gardaí today offered a €10,000 reward for information on the brutal murder of a mother of three in Co Louth last month.
Irene White's body was discovered by her mother, Maureen (70), at her home at Ice House in Demense Road, Dundalk, on April 6th. The 43-year-old had suffered multiple stab wounds to her chest and back in the attack.
Officers believe she may have been washing dishes at the kitchen sink when she was stabbed.
Dundalk gardaí have released new information about a man seen running from the direction of Ms White's house on the morning of her murder.
Supt Pat McGee said: "A man was seen running from Irene White's house at approximately 10.15am on the morning of the murder. . .
"This man ran through the park beside the house where Irene was living, this park which was known as Ice House Hill Park.
"He ran to a car which was parked in the O'Hanlon Park area, which is just to the side of the house where Irene was murdered." Mr McGee said the body was discovered at around 12.30pm."
Supt McGee said there was a "substantial" reward of €10,000 on offer for information leading to the capture of the person responsible.
He described the man as aged between 30 and 40. He was wearing jeans, a dark jacket and a peaked cap. He appealed to people in the area to try to remember if they noticed the man or anything else unusual on the morning of April 6th.
