RACING: Officials at Galway have been forced to cancel meetings scheduled for today and tomorrow with the track currently waterlogged in places.
The course has been hit by a substantial amount of rain overnight and with the track unraceable, officials were left with little option but to call off the cards.
Irish Turf Club press officer Cliff Noone said: "Today's meeting at Galway has been cancelled as the track is waterlogged in places."
He added: "There has been over 20 millimetres of rain overnight and this morning."
After the decision was made to call of today's fixture, Noone soon added: "They have now abandoned tomorrow's meeting as well as today's.
"The course is still waterlogged and there is another 20 millimetres of rain forecast for today and tomorrow."
Elsewhere a course inspection took place at Cork ahead of the scheduled Friday meeting.
"Both the Round and Sprint courses were deemed unfit for racing due to waterlogging," today's Turf Club statement added.
"A decision has been taken to abandon both sprint races (Irish Stallion Farms EBF Two-Year-Old Maiden and Mallow Fillies Handicap) and the plan is to divide one of the remaining five races to form a six race programme."
Tipperary is the latest track to lose out as Thursday's meeting has been cancelled after today's inspection found the course unfit for racing due to waterlogging.
