Verizon Heritage:Brian Davis and Luke Donald face a final-day cavalry charge at the Verizon Heritage on Sunday if they are to close out long-awaited victories on the PGA Tour. Davis trails 54-hole leader Jim Furyk by one stroke at 10-under-par after a third-round, five-under-par 66 at Harbour Town Golf Links.

Fellow Englishman Donald is an additional shot behind Furyk at nine under in a seven-way tie for third place with another 14 players within six shots of the lead heading into the final round.

World number six Furyk, who co-led the tournament at halfway with fellow American Charles Howell III and England's Greg Owen, claimed the outright lead with a final-hole birdie for a 67 to get to 11 under.

Davis, based in Orlando, and seeking his first win in America after two European Tour titles, had already reached the clubhouse after a bogey-free round while Donald, in search of a first victory since the 2006 Honda Classic, fired four birdies for a four-under 67.

Donald is tied for third with Canada's Stephen Ames, who shot a six-under-par 65 for the second day in a row, and Americans Briny Baird and Ricky Barnes, who each posted a 66, as well as Woody Austin (67), Heath Slocum (67) and two-time champion Boo Weekley (68).

Australian duo Nick O'Hern, who had a 64 for the low round of the day, and Aaron Baddeley (68) are on eight under with Bo Van Pelt (66) of the United States and Colombian Camilo Villegas (67).

Sweden's Fredrik Jacobson was another low scorer with a 65 that got him to six under, where he joined fellow Swedes Robert Karlsson (69) and Carl Pettersen (70) as well as Open champion Stewart Cink (67) while Owen and Scotland's Martin Laird were in another large group at five under following a 73 and 70 respectively.

There was also a 70 for England's world number seven Paul Casey, who had shot a 65 on Friday and finished the third round at three under for the week.

Five-time winner Davis Love III enjoyed a hole in one at the par-three fourth, the second ace of the week there after Jerry Kelly did the same in the first round.

Love finished with a level-par round of 71 that left him even for the tournament but John Daly paid for a third-round 74 that left him at one over par and one of the 10 golfers who fell prey to the secondary cut after 82 players had survived into the weekend.
