The funeral has taken place in Co Fermanagh today of eight-year old Paul Bogue, who died after falling into a swimming pool in Enniskillen on Tuesday.

Paul was resuscitated after he was taken from the swimming pool in the grounds of Portora Royal School. He was transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast but he died on Thursday.

A post-mortem examination has been carried out to establish the cause of death. He was in class P5 at Mullanaskea Primary School in Garvary and is survived by his parents, Thomas and Angela, and sisters, Orla and Emma.

The heated pool at Portora was open for a summer scheme for local children.

Paul was a keen Gaelic footballer and was on the under-10 panel of Tempo Maguires Gaelic Athletic Club.

Parish priest Fr John Holton said Paul's death had shattered his family and the entire community of Garvary, where he lived.

"The family are shattered and broken and vulnerable at this very difficult time," he said. A post mortem examination has been carried out to establish the cause of the boy's death.

He was buried today after requiem mass at St Mary's Church in Tempo.
