The funeral took place in Ballycastle, Co Antrim, yesterday of Karen Coyles. Ms Coyles went missing almost three weeks ago after returning from Dublin having captained the local camogie team to win the All-Ireland camogie sevens tournament.

Family members led the funeral cortege yesterday past the McQuillan’s GAA club, of which she was a leading member, and past her home to St Patrick and St Brigid’s Church for noon requiem Mass.

She was interred in the adjoining cemetery.

Before the funeral her grieving family asked that donations in lieu of flowers be given to Community Search and Rescue and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution as a mark of thanks to those who searched for her body.
