Cape Town - A South African who allegedly shot dead seven members of his family was arrested yesterday after nearly two days on the run in the mountains north of Cape Town, police said.

The former farm security guard, Mr Johnny Jooste, handed himself over at a local school where he had hidden himself after Sunday's killing spree at a family farm in the fruit-growing Koue Bokkeveld area, north of Cape Town.
