Rome - The French diver, Jacques Mayol (74), hanged himself at his home on the Mediterranean island of Elba, Italian police announced yesterday.
Mayol, who held numerous world records for free dives without a breathing apparatus, was found by a neighbour in the town of Calone, they said.
