The fourth member of a gang suspected of attempting to rob a service station in Co Galway yesterday was arrested last night after a day on the run.

Three other men were arrested yesterday - one at the scene of the attempted raid in Headford and two in follow-up searches of the area.

The fourth man was arrested at around 10.30 last night in Tarmonbarry, Co Roscommon.

The men tried to break into the service station at around 5.00 a..m yesterday morning, but were disturbed by the owner, who alerted the gardai.

A number of checkpoints were set up in the area and the Garda Air Support Unit also joined the search.

A car, which was stolen in Dublin on Monday, was recovered at the scene.

The four men are now being held at Millstreet Garda Station in Galway city.
