The teenager had knocked on a stranger's door in Milton and asked if he could take a shower and rest. The woman gave him a sandwich and something to drink and phoned for help.

Janice Goodman says the boy arrived on her doorstep with sunken eyes, barely able to stand.

Investigators said he told Ms Goodman that "his parents had been very mean to him".
