Four Ulster Unionist candidates are seeking selection to contest the Strangford seat in the next Westminster general election. Mr John Taylor MP has announced he is not standing again.

The UUP's local constituency chairman and leading Orangeman, Mr David McNarry, local councillor Mr Robert Burgess, solicitor Mr Jack Irwin, and schoolteacher Mr Jim Hamilton have all put their names forward.

The seat will also be contested by Ms Iris Robinson of the DUP.
