Sunday week's National Football League final will be played at a provincial venue and not Croke Park as is the norm.

Mayo, Galway, Kerry and Laois contest this weekend's semi-finals and the GAA's believes it conducive to host the final at a provincial venue more convenient to supporters from the respective counties.

The Central Games Administration Committee of the GAA is expected to meet in Limerick on Sunday evening and decide on the venue once the final pairings are known.

Although Croke Park is available, hosting the game in Dublin would be seen as an inconvenience for travelling supporters.

Crucially, though, it would significantly swell numbers in the capital as Leinster's high-profile European Cup semi-final showdown with Munster at Lansdowne Road will attract huge numbers.

The GAA is giving similar consideration to the prospective venue for the Division 2 final.  Donegal and Westmeath and Limerick and Louth meet in the semi-finals this weekend.
