The number of people affected by the salmonella food poisoning outbreak linked to a Chinese restaurant in Co Wicklow appears to be declining.

An additional three people fell ill with bacterial food poisoning over the weekend, according to an Eastern Health Board official. This is a marked decline on the rate last week, and brings the number of cases to 83.

Two more people were released from hospital while the five remaining patients are understood to be recovering.
