Five of the six detainees being held in this jurisdiction in connection with the Omagh bombing, under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939, were released yesterday, the Gardai said. A special sitting of the District Court in Carrickmacross last night extended the period of detention of the last man by a further 24 hours in line with the Act's requirements, a spokesman said.
