An Irish registered fishing boat, with four crew members on board, was towed into Achill in County Mayo this morning after getting into difficulties.

The engine of the 58-foot trawler,

The Lady Evelyn

, failed at around 3 a.m. about two miles off Achill Head.

A spokesman for the Achill lifeboat rescue described conditions as "difficult with a gale force seven north east wind blowing and heavy rain."

He said the towing rope attached to the boat broke off twice during the operation.

The four crew members were unharmed.
