THE former Taoiseach, Mr Albert Reynolds, was one of three Fianna Fail candidates selected yesterday to contest the Longford Roscommon constituency in the next general election.
Others selected at the convention in Ballyleague, Co Roscommon, were Mr Sean Doherty TD and Mr Terry Leyden. The national executive is, to be asked to add Senator Michael Finneran to the ticket. He polled close to Mr Leyden.
Mr Reynolds said the peace process had been sacrificed "at the altar of political expediency". Fianna Fail in government would "finish the job which I started".
