The Mid-Western Health Board is to recall 715 patients for blood-group testing after blood-testing kits supplied to the regional hospital's blood bank were found to be faulty.

But the board said the recall is only a precautionary measure and is confident no patients were harmed.

About 2,000 people were tested with the kits between February 22nd and April 13th, but 1,285 of them will not have to be re-tested as they had been tested previously.

The kits were made by a US company.
