Fashion parade: a show of classic structured style

QUEEN ELIZABETH arrived to meet President Mary McAleese at Áras an Uachtaráin wearing bright green and a broad smile

QUEEN ELIZABETH arrived to meet President Mary McAleese at Áras an Uachtaráin wearing bright green and a broad smile. The Queen’s dresser is Angela Kelly, a Liverpudlian of Irish descent.

The Queen’s striking jade outfit, designed by Stewart Parvin, was topped with a matching hat decorated with flowers and feathers, created by Rachel Trevor-Morgan. Her coat had a single covered button at the neck and its lining echoed the pattern of her blue and green floral knee-length dress.

Black patent court shoes with gold chain detail and a small, sturdy heel were teamed with black gloves and a black patent handbag in a classic structured style.

Her jewellery included a three-strand pearl necklace, pearl earrings and a bow-shaped silver brooch. The Queen retained those accessories through an outfit change.

The visit to the Garden of Remembrance in Parnell Square saw the Queen wearing a cream dress and coat, with a green floral border. Her cream hat featured a green brim and matching floral detail and her gold brooch featured ruby-coloured stones.

Both of Mrs McAleese’s outfits were created by Irish designers. Her first outfit was a cerise pink dress and coat with slightly flared sleeves designed by the Dublin-based couturiers Tyrell and Brennan. She teamed the outfit with matching heels.

Mrs McAleese changed into a knee-length, high-necked black dress and coat with white piping detail, designed by Deborah Veale, for the Garden of Remembrance ceremony. The second outfit was teamed with black tights, black high heels, pearl earrings and a silver necklace.
