IFA grievances were apparent yesterday when farmers picketed at a National Roads Authority (NRA) consultation meeting on the preferred route options of the Castletown to Nenagh bypass in Roscrea, Co Tipperary.

The farmers are calling on the Government to make a 100 per cent compensation increase for land acquired by compulsory purchase order (CPO) for road construction.

Failure by the Government to negotiate with the IFA means the national roads programme could be disrupted.
