A couple and their two young children escaped injury last night when two shots were fired at their house in Strabane, Co Tyrone.

A PSNI spokeswoman said the father spotted a man in the rear of the house at Linkside Close at about 11.30 p.m.

This man, who police say may have had an accomplice, fired a shot at the house before escaping toward Linkside Drive.

A second shot was then reportedly fired at the house, but there were no injuries.

Police have also appealed for witnesses to an attempted arson attack on a house in Lurgan, Co Armagh.

A petrol bomb was thrown at the house in Colban Crescent, but it failed to ignite. A man in a hooded top was seen running away.

The PSNI spokeswoman said they were "keeping an open mind" as to a motive for the attack.
