Former Newcastle defender Nikos Dabizas was involved in a car crash early this morning after celebrating Greece's European Championship qualifying win over Ukraine.
Dabizas, who is understood to have had a fault with the steering in his car, smashed into traffic lights in Athens after playing in the 1-0 victory.
The Greece international, released by Newcastle at the end of last season, got out of his vehicle before it caught fire and was taken by ambulance to hospital but he is not believed to be seriously hurt.
Greece moved top of Group Six this week after Euro 2004 qualifying victories over Spain and Ukraine.
