Arusha - A former Rwandan town mayor, Mr Ignace Bagilishema, will be tried by a UN war crimes tribunal after being arrested in South Africa last week in connection with the 1994 genocide in which an estimated 800,000 Rwandans were killed. He is alleged to have used his position as mayor of Mabanza, western Rwanda, to convince ethnic Tutsis to take refuge in a church, a hostel and a stadium, knowing that they would be killed there.
