COTONOU - Former Marxist military ruler, Gen Mathieu Kerekou, won Benin's second multi party presidential election, according to provisional results announced by the constitutional court early yesterday. The announcement of Gen Kerekous dramatic return from political wilderness to defeat President Nicephore Soglo unleashed a wave of rejoicing his supporters in the West African nation's main city, Cotonou.
