THE Irish Bridge Union's open team for the European Championships in Montecatini, Italy, next June will be: T. Hanlon, Dr H McGann, D. and T. Garvey, M. O Briain and J. Carroll.
After the second weekend of the trials in Dublin, Hanlon/McGann were top of the leader board, thus gaining automatic places on the team.
On the third weekend four teams played off to decide a further two pairs for Italy, and the final placings in that series were: 1, the Garveys, M. O Briain, J. Carroll 125.5 victory points; 2, Dr G.M. Keaveney, R. Timlin, T. Roche, P. 6 Briain 97; 3, J. Comyn, B.J. O'Brien, J. Ferguson, I. Hamilton 78; 4, A.T.R. Anderson, I. Lindsay, Commdt E.J. Fitzgerald, M. MacDonagh 52.
Dr Keaveney's side will be in the squad from which players will be picked for the home internationals.
