The euro bounced off session lows in Europe against thedollar this afternoon.

The single currency stood at $1.1684 in afternoon trade inLondon after dropping to a one-week low of $1.1585overnight.

The dollar benefited from an overnight rally on Wall Street,where the Dow Jones and the Nasdaq rose 1 per cent asinvestors bet that the third quarter earnings season will drivemarkets higher.

The held above 70p sterling, at 70.13 pence.

The euro also suffered in the wake of alleged intervention bythe Bank of Japan to weaken the yen against the dollar andcomments by the European Central Bank (ECB) presidentMr Wim Duisenberg.
