Vienna - Austria, which holds the EU presidency, called for European action yesterday against child abuse following the discovery of an alleged child pornography ring in the Netherlands with Internet links.

"It is not acceptable that child pornography, through the use of the Internet, gets an even bigger and more gruesome dimension," the Foreign Minister, Mr Wolfgang Schuessel, said. "That is exactly what the case in the Netherlands shows."
