A man in his 80s was found dead last night at his home in Birr Co Offaly.
Gardaí were called to his house at around 10.30 last night and discovered the man's body in a chair in his living room. There were signs the room had caught fire thought the rest of the house was undamaged.
Gardaí are investigating the circumstances under which the man died and have called in the State pathologist, Dr John Harbinson.
