Jerusalem - El Al Israel Airlines said yesterday it had asked the state Attorney-General, Mr Elyakim Rubinstein, to cancel a government order banning the airline from flying on the Jewish Sabbath and holidays.

The request comes a week after Mr Rubinstein ruled that state-owned El Al was not Israel's sole international airline, clearing the way for the Transport Ministry to license additional carriers.
