The Burning Question: What type of music do you like the most?

Heidi Gallagher

Heidi Gallagher

I play piano and am at grade 5. I play mostly classical music but I wouldn't go out of my way to listen to that normally. I would say I choose to listen to chart and pop music. I really like some stuff by LeAnn Rimes but I am not a country music fan. I would never listen to jazz or swing or any of that old stuff but I do love all the songs Elvis did.

At Christmas you hear more choral music and carols. I don't mind it out shopping but I would never buy that sort of stuff. I love Robbie Williams and I wanted to see him in Lansdowne in July but I'm not allowed. I have the Eminem CD and it is really cool. I love dance music - but the songs more than specific DJs. I really hate Steps.

I did Junior Cert music and loved it. We had to study Orff's Carmina Burana and Rossini's William Tell Overture. Those pieces of music really affected me. I love Craig David's music and though I don't normally like Ronan Keating I think his new one that Bryan Adams wrote is great. I used to play the tin whistle but I don't like traditional Irish music.

I like all types of music but I mostly choose to put on chart music - I like the Stereophonics. I buy about one CD a month and get them for Christmas and birthdays. I would listen to classical music if I was going to a concert with school or if a friend was involved. Heidi was playing piano at An Grianan High Achievers awards. I really enjoyed that.

I enjoy all music but I particularly like Bryan Adams. I went to see him at Slane this year - he was really the best and Mel C was good too. I went with my older brother and sister. They influence my music taste a lot, they have gotten me into Stereophonics and The Verve. My dad has made me love the Undertones and The Beautiful South.

I am so into Radiohead and what Dave Fanning plays on 2FM. My favourite albums are OK Computer and The Bends. A friend taped Nirvana's Nevermind for me recently. Smells like Teen Spirit is just such an anthem for teenagers - it's brilliant. I liked Boyzone when I was younger but that's just embarrassing now. I'm really into Bob Dylan.
