HND courses in Dublin

Colaiste Dhulaigh has 30 places in the first year of its three-year course

Colaiste Dhulaigh has 30 places in the first year of its three-year course. After two years students get a higher national diploma (HND), and they may then proceed to the University of Wolverhampton for a further academic year to get a degree. The HND course includes print and radio broadcasting and a module on online publishing.

Entry requirements include Leaving Certificate, preferably with an honour in English.

Ballyfermot College of Further Education has a HND in print journalism and a HND in radio production. Both of these can feed into a degree in media production and management, which is taught in Ballyfermot but awarded by Thames Valley University.

The educational requirements for the print HND are two honours, including English, in the Leaving Cert, while applicants for the radio HND need two honours. The college also has two foundation courses, says guidance counsellor Julie Murphy, a one-year diploma in media and a one-year NCVA level 2 print qualification.
