James McGarry, a student from NUI Galway, has won the Siemens Young Engineer of the Year Award 2001 for his analysis of cardiovascular stent design. A final-year engineering degree student, McGarry was one of nine finalists who presented their projects to the adjudication panel on topics ranging from turbojet to wind data analysis. The award is presented annually by the Institution of Engineers of Ireland (IEI).
