The Vatican's Dominus Iesus document and public exchanges between church leaders suggested there was "an ecumenical freeze" in Ireland, a Methodist conference was told yesterday.

Yesterday, the conference elected Rev Winston Graham from Knock in Belfast as president-designate for 2002.
