About 50,000 ecstasy tablets, with an estimated street value of over €500,000, were seized by gardaí in Co Wexford this morning.

The find came when officers from the Garda National Drug Unit searched a lorry at Ballinbola, New Ross around 7.40 a.m.

The drugs were discovered concealed in cases of wine.

The lorry driver, a man in his late 40's, was arrested.

He is being held at New Ross Garda Station under Section 2, Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act.
