The crane in difficulty over Aston Quay in Dublin today.

Aston Quay in Dublin's city centre was closed to traffic for over two hours this afternoon after a mobile crane developed technical difficulties in Temple Bar. The crane section has now been removed and traffic has returned to normal.

The telescopic crane was lifting a section of a larger crane into place when a supporting cable snapped. A second mobile crane was brought to the scene under garda escort and the section was winched to the ground.

Dublin Bus services departing from the quays were disrupted during the incident.
