Two young musical men from Dublin will take to the stage this month at two very different evenings of song. Paul Byrom, a young Dublin tenor, who is studying music with Veronica Dunne at the Leinster School of Music, will play NankiPoo, the lead role in The Mikado, in the upcoming Rathmines and Rathgar Musical Society production of the opera. The show opens at the National Concert Hall on Sunday, March 25th and runs for a full week. Be there or be square.
Meanwhile, at an elaborate rock shindig at the Point Depot last night, Eoin Quinlan, a young and handsome cello player, accompanied Elton John on stage at the Meteor Ireland Music Awards. Another star is born. Quinlan, who studies at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, is heading to Spain shortly to dazzle them with his virtuosity. Tune in next week for more musical footnotes. Da-da-da-daaa.
