SIX gardai had been convicted of drunk driving since 1990 and allowed to remain in the force, the House was told in a written reply. Three of these were also convicted of dangerous driving and one of driving without insurance. There was one other separate case of driving without insurance in 1991 where the member was allowed to remain, the Minister for Justice, Mrs Owen, told Mr Willie O'Dea (FF, Limerick East).
