Drugs worth over €2 million have been found following separate raids on both sides of the Border.

Gardaí are preparing a file for the Director of Public Prosecutions after they seized €1 million worth of so-called 'head shop' products in two planned searches in Co Louth last night.

The searches were carried out in Dromiskin, south of Dundalk. During the second search, a 36-year-old man was arrested. He was later released without charge.

A stun gun was also found during one of the searches.

A Garda spokesman said people do not realise the dangers posed by such products some of which are designed to look harmless. "These goods would have retailed at €1 million and our investigation is ongoing."

In an unconnected seizure, police in Northern Ireland arrested three men aged 25, 27 and 51, who were found in possession of 60kg of cannabis resin, 50,000 ecstasy tables and small amounts of cocaine and heroin.
