Paul Dillon (40), Cliona Park, Moyross, Limerick, described as the principal in a drugs deal, was sentenced to eight years' imprisonment at Kilrush Circuit Court yesterday.
The offences related to the seizure of 15kg of cannabis resin with a street value of £150,000 at Clondrinagh, Limerick, on November 6th, 1997. He was charged with possession of cannabis resin with intent to supply on that date.

The court was told by Det Sgt John Heelan, Henry Street, the seizure was the result of a major Garda operation targeting drug activity in the midwest region.
Judge Sean O'Leary took into account that the defendant had pleaded guilty.
Two years of the sentence were suspended.
Leave to appeal was refused, and the judge made an order for the forfeiture to the State of £27,000 and the vehicle used in the offence.
