Donegal, the home county of the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation, Dr McDaid, has hit the jackpot in this year's lottery allocations for sport.
Its €5 million share of lottery money works out at €38.76 per head of the population - the highest in the country and nearly double the national average.
The €76 million shareout was announced by the Minister - who represents Donegal North East - more than three months earlier than usual.
The big loser was Offaly. Its allocation worked out at only €6.85 per head of population.
Dublin gets €21.5 million or €20.27 per head of population.
Dr McDaid said funding had been aimed at projects in some of the most disadvantaged areas.
