St. Pats 1-1 Cork City
Pat Dolan endured a tense but sweet return to Richmond Park tonight as his Cork City side rescued a point with a late late strike to deny St. Patrick's Athletic.
The home side took the lead after seven minutes when Kevin Doyle fouled Mbabzi Livingstone in the area. Tony Bird stepped up to slot home the penalty which St. Pats held all the way to the break.
While Cork came back into the game in the second period, they could never really penetrate the sturdy home defence. But with four minutes of injury time gone, Denis Behan sent the travelling fans, and manager Dolan, wild with a low right foot strike past Chris Adamson.
Drogheda 1-2 Shamrock Rovers
Shamrock Rovers moved second in the table after coming from behind to beat Drogheda United at 02 Park.
Andy Myler put Drogheda ahead after eight minutes with a rather opportunist goal after Rovers 'keeper Barry Ryan had rushed off his line. But the visitors pulled level 10 minutes from time when striker Trevor Molloy, returning from an ankle injury, fired past Gary Rogers.
Then, with just minutes remaining, target man Glen Fitzpatrick beat the offside trap to score and record Rovers' first win on the road this season. Drogheda were reduced to 10 men in injury time when Brian Kelly was sent to the line for a second yellow.
UCD 2-1 Bohemians
UCD caused the shock of the night by overcoming champions Bohemians at Belfield Park. The win was the Student's first of the current campaign.
Alan Cawley's first half opener was cancelled out by Fergal Harkin's second half strike but Tony McDonnell rescued much needed points with his winning effort nine minutes from time.
