The World Mercy Fund has announced it will distribute up to $1.4 million among 84 development projects in 27 countries from next July 1st. The fund was set up in 1969 to promote economic progress in poorer countries.
In Ireland, it assists the Royal College of Surgeons scholarship programme for medical students from the developing world, a programme for children with hearing difficulties in Beaumont Hospital, the L'Arche group's programme for the physically handicapped, the Collins Foundation for its work in education, and the Institute for Development Studies.
