A European wide-survey of European mergers and acquisitions advisers has ranked Deutsche Bank as the leading adviser in the Irish market ranked by value, with its two deals in the local market clocking in at €1,762 million.

Mergermarket's 2004 league tables of the leading financial advisers to European mergers and acquisitions saw Goldman Sachs retain its crown as the leading financial adviser by value, advising on 105 deals worth €212.6 billion.

In terms of volume IBI Corporate Finance was the most active finance house advising on eight deals worth €435 million, followed by Davy Corporate Finance who advised on seven deals worth a total of €377 million.

The survey revealed that M&A activity across Europe is on the rise.

Compared to 2003 the value of deals increased in value from € 502,230 billion to €635,496 billion and deal volumes increased by 37%.
