Dancing to the same tune

'Dance, dance wherever you may be

'Dance, dance wherever you may be." That was the mantra at Dance Theatre of Ireland on opening night in the Samuel Beckett Theatre, Dublin. They are all espousers of the one philosophy.

Teacher and former dancer Marian Lennon, from Inchicore College of Further Education, arrived at the theatre, which this week was a mecca for all lovers of dance.

Rachel Wynne, from Dún Laoghaire, is studying dance in Leicester and is back home working for the summer on new dance pieces. Also spotted at the event were Joanna Banks, from the College of Dance in Dún Laoghaire; singer Paul Brady; and Cerstin Gundlach, of Fishamble Theatre Company, with her friend, Maeve Healy, from Clonmel.

From Blanchardstown, John and Ann Condron, parents of Niamh Condron, the soloist who opened the show in her own piece, Release Me, waited expectantly.
