Bohemians striker Glen Crowe has been ruled out of the Republic of Ireland's Euro 2004 qualifiers against Albania on Saturday and Georgia next Wednesday, it was confirmed this afternoon.

Crowe, who has two international caps, limped off during a league clash with St Patrick's Athletic last Friday and the results of a scan have revealed an inflammation of a tendon on his knee.

Crowe was declared unfit after sitting out a practice match against the Under-21s at Tolka Rovers ground this afternoon, a match the senior side won 3-1.

The game, played behind closed doors, provided better news for Republic manager Brian Kerr who saw Millwall's Steven Reid score and prove his fitness. Goalkeeper Shay Given, who took no part in the match but did train this morning, will also be available for selection at the weekend.

"There's no problem with Given being available, he's totally fit and has been given the all-clear," Kerr said.

Leeds United midfielder Stephen McPhail, who is suffering from the effects of a "dead leg", is also expected to be fit if called upon for the Albania match.
