Zagreb - The Croatian parliament was suspended yesterday after a male MP's sexist remark triggered outrage among his female colleagues. Mr Anto Kovacevic, a leader of the Christian Democratic Party, told a female MP in the heat of a debate that, "God created you for mattresses and not as a wise man." In Croatian, the word "mattress" and "wise man" differ only in one letter.
Mr Kovacevic was banned from participating in the debate.
