A 23-year-old man died after the car in which he was travelling crashed into a wall at Croneyhorn on the R725 between Shillelagh and Carnew in Co Wicklow at about 4am yesterday.

A man in his 20s is set to appear in Bray District Court today charged in relation to a single vehicle fatal road crash in Wicklow yesterday.

A 23-year-old man died after the car in which he was travelling in crashed into a wall at Croneyhorn on the R725 between Shillelagh and Carnew in Co Wicklow at about 4am this morning.

He was pronounced dead at scene. A post mortem is being arranged.

A man in his early 20s was arrested yesterday and is being held at Gorey Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

The R725 remains closed at Croneyhorn for a forensic examination. Diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information or who may have travelled the R725 at Croneyhorn between 3am and 4am this morning to contact them at Baltinglass Garda Station on 059 6482610, The Garda Confidential Line 1800 666111 or any Garda Station.
