A man in his 20s has been arrested by gardaí investigating a robbery at a filling station in Athy Co. Kildare.

A man in his 20s has been arrested by gardaí investigating a robbery at a filling station in Athy Co. Kildare.

The incident happened on Thursday, July 28th, shortly before 7pm when a lone raider entered the filling station on the Carlow Road in the town, threatened a female staff member with a handgun and demanded cash. The man left on foot with an amount of cash.

The man is detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Newbridge Garda station.
