Couple charged in North after discovery of fuel laundering plant

Pair arrested over waste and contaminated land offences in Co Armagh

Two people have been charged with offences connected to the discovery of a fuel laundering plant.

The man (48) and woman (45) were arrested after the discovery of an illegal fuel operation at Cullaville Road, Crossmaglen, Co Armagh, in July.

The pair have been charged with waste and contaminated land offences, including failure to transfer waste to an authorised carrier, keeping controlled waste in a manner likely to cause pollution and unlawful deposit of waste.

PSNI area commander chief-inspector Davy Beck said: "We know that fuel laundering and illegal waste disposal is a huge concern, and we work tirelessly with our partner agencies . . . to tackle this crime."
