A 49-year-old man who had earlier been charged with assault causing harm to a Kenmare man, Mr Philip O'Sullivan, appeared before Kenmare Court yesterday charged with his murder. The body of Mr O'Sullivan (19) was found at Derrylough, Tuosist, early on August 23rd.

At a special sitting of Kenmare Court on August 23rd Mr Robert Brian Anthony, of Derrylough, Tuosist, was charged with assaulting Mr O'Sullivan, causing him harm.

Mr Anthony had been in custody since that time but was remanded on bail to appear before Tralee District Court on January 14th when he appeared before Anascaul Court yesterday. Bail had been approved by the High Court on Monday.

Mr Anthony was rearrested by gardai at 1.05 p.m. yesterday and brought before a special sitting of Kenmare District Court at 4 p.m. charged with the murder of Mr O'Sullivan.

Judge Humphrey Kelliher remanded Mr Anthony in custody to appear before Kenmare Court on December 26th.

Mr Anthony, who is originally from England, had been living in the Kenmare area for some time.
