Counterfeit 'Prada' trainers worth €1.34m seized

Customs officials in Cork have seized a consignment of counterfeit trainers worth about €1.34 million.

Customs officials in Cork have seized a consignment of counterfeit trainers worth about €1.34 million.

The goods arrived in Cork Port by container from China. The haul - contained in 511 cartons - consisted of 6,132 pairs of Prada sports shoes.

So far this year Customs officials have made 133 separate seizures of counterfeit goods with a retail value of approximately €2.6 million.

Last year Customs made 299 seizures of counterfeit products valued at €2.87million.
