Wheel-Clamp and towaway services in Dublin will be significantly expanded early next year, the Traffic Office of Dublin Corporation has announced.

The office of the Director of Traffic put the proposed services out to tender yesterday. The expanded services, which are intended to improve traffic flow, will include a fleet of new towing and clamping vehicles. Extra closed-circuit television cameras and other technology will be used to identify offenders and apprehend them rapidly.

Existing parking meters are to be replaced by more sophisticated electronic models, some of which will be solar-powered.
